CALL FOR PAPERS:
Communication and Development Studies
Graduate Student Conference
Ohio University, Athens
April 13-14, 2007

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Communication and Development Studies (CommDev) at Ohio University, Athens, OH, the program invites submissions of papers for the CommDev Graduate Student Conference. The conference will take place in Athens on April 13 "“ 14, 2007 with the theme "Communication and Sustainable Development in Intercultural Contexts."

We welcome submissions from graduate students, practitioners and other professionals and academics interested in issues of media and communication for development with special attention to cultural, community, and societal issues. The conference is not restricted to graduate students enrolled in communications-related programs. Graduate students from other disciplines with research interests in media and communication in socio-cultural and development contexts are welcome to submit their papers. The review committee for acceptance of papers will include faculty and students for the CommDev program.

Individual paper submission format:
Identify the paper's author(s) or panel's organizer(s) and include the mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address of the person to whom inquiries should be addressed on the title page only. The title should be on the first page of the text and there will be running heads on each page of text. Include your abstract as an attachment in a standard word-processing format (preferably Word or RTF).

Deadlines:
We ask that interested graduates students submit an abstract describing their paper (in 250 - 350 words) with a resume by February 10, 2007. Abstracts and resumes must be written in English and formatted as either a PDF or MS Word document.

Selected authors will be notified by February 28, 2007 and are expected to give a 15-minute presentation on their paper during the conference.

Panel submissions:
We also welcome panel submissions. Organizers should submit proposals indicating the panel title, a description of the session's focus, the issues to be discussed, and a list of panelists with their affiliations.
Authors of accepted submissions will be given until March 30, 2007 to send in the full version of their final paper.
